I needed a Yoda. Do you?
Last week I fulfilled a dream I’ve been dreaming of for years….to provide more choices to learn and grow as a leader. To build a membership platform and community.
Why was this my passion project?
Because early in my career I needed, but did not know I needed, a guide. Like Yoda. Wise. Insightful. Challenging. Focused. I also needed a tribe, yeah, like the Star Wars gang. There at your side, ready to fight for what you believe. Take on any challenge. With determination. Courage. Grit.
Because I was soooooooooooooo excited to take on my first manager role! This is what I had been waiting for. Preparing for. Freshly graduated with my MBA, ready to rock the leader world.
Spoiler Alert! Dark Side. It was hard. Those PEOPLE issues. Who knew leadership was so challenging? Politics. Financial pressures. Growth goals. Team challenges. Constant organizational change. Sometimes I felt alone. Woefully unprepared. But determined to figure it out.
“If no mistake you have made, losing you are. A different game you should play.” – Yoda
I made some mistakes (according to Yoda, WINNING!). Let’s be honest, some were doozies. I still wince a little. But I learned and improved and learned. And that’s the way so many of us learn. Trial and error. Rinse and repeat.
Because the rewards are worth it. Engagement, energy, passion, goals, change, growth, connection, contribution. Those moments when it comes together are worth it.
But how cool would it have been, seriously to be able to huddle with Yoda?
“In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way.” – Yoda
To have a partner to ask the questions, invite the learning and growth to come. With purpose. On purpose. Access to tools to face those challenges, the right resources at the right time to help avoid those pitfalls. A gang to collaborate and commiserate with. This is what I was missing. And I didn’t even know it. But I see it now. In people I coach and train. A longing for connection, ideas, fresh perspectives, a safe space to share, explore those challenges and laugh. Because it needs to be fun too.
So, I founded Intentionaleaders in 2019 to be a source for leaders anywhere and everywhere in our galaxy. For this purpose and with this purpose. That we are stronger together than alone. That it’s okay to question ourselves and to feel anxious. (The Dark Side is always there!) And strong leaders care. And I believe they are honest and transparent in examining and facing every single fear. Because that’s courage. And that’s commitment.
Last week, I launched the Intentionaleaders Membership Community. Because, as Yoda says,
“Always pass on what you have learned.”
Won’t you join us?
“Your path you must decide…. Do or do not. There is no try.”
